With some basic care, you can keep your Alaskan MAKER gear for years to come! The best way to maintain your waxed canvas is to avoid machine washing, soaps would accelerate the degradation of the wax which protects the canvas and damage the leather parts.

WE THEREFORE ADVISE YOU:

  • Aucun détergent ni solvant

    NO detergent

WAX THE CANVAS

Why re-wax ?

Depending on the frequency of use, or after washing your canvas may need to be re-waxed. Uneven areas may appear: shiny or dry or when moisture no longer beads. In addition to extending the life of your product, waxing will revive the color of the fabric and bring back a uniform look! You can re-wax only a specific area. To wax your product you can use the wax bar. We recommend that you use the wax bar when you want to wax a particular area of your garment.

Step 1

Take your Alaskan Maker wax bar, a hair dryer as a heat source and a clean, lint-free cloth.

Step 2

Rub the wax back and forth over the canvas, spreading the material evenly.

Step 3

Insist on areas that require more material such as seams.

Etape 4

Use a hair dryer to soften the wax and impregnate the fabric.

Etape 5

Spread the wax evenly with a cloth.

Etape 6

Leave to dry for 24 hours in a dry place.

COMMENT EFFACER LES TRACES BLANCHES DE MON SAC EN TOILE WAXÉE ?

Waxed canvas is a material which is rigid when subjected to cold and which becomes flexible when it is, on the contrary, subjected to heat. It is for this reason that when you receive your Alaskan MAKER product it is weathered and white marks appear on the canvas which gives it a vintage effect. These white traces are actually due to the crystallization of the wax on the canvas. If you want to remove the white marks on the product, all you need to do is use a heat source such as a hair dryer and heat the canvas. Once the wax is heated, the traces will wear off. Also the material is rigid at the beginning but with its use the canvas will soften over time. Oilcloth makes a perfect duo with leather: the two materials have similar durability and develop a beautiful patina with age, so they are increasingly paired in fashion accessories. Beautiful, Practical & Robust.

Etape 1

Etape 2

Heat the fabric using a heat source such as a scraper or hair dryer, evenly throughout the bag.

Etape 3

The white marks disappear and you can repeat the operation as many times as you like.
